4 DIY Selfcare Practices

Here are 4 DIY Selfcare Practices to Pamper Yourself

Say “Bye-Bye, Tired Eyes!”

This one is a classic with a twist. We’ve all seen mud-masked beauties chilling with cucumber slices on their eyes in magazines. And for good reason!

Cucumbers are rich with folic acid and Vitamin C. Matched with their high water content, cukes are perfect for waking up and hydrating skin.

Experts suggest keeping your cucumbers chilled before slicing them about half an inch thick.  Removing the cucumber skin can also reduce the likelihood of your skin coming into contact with harmful pesticides.

If you want to enhance this DIY selfcare practice further, try chilling a couple teabags in the fridge for about 10minutes then dampening them. You can place the teabags beneath the cucumbers on your undereyes to further combat wrinkles, swelling, and dark circles. The antioxidants in green, black, and herbal teas can rejuvenate tired skin cells.

Feel Kissable

What’s the first thing you want when you wake up in the morning? No, not kisses. Coffee! Luckily with this simple coffee lip scrub, you can have both.

For this scrub, you’ll need:

1 TBS Coffee Grounds (Fresh, dry grounds are best.)

1 tsp Coconut Oil (Or a substitute. You can use olive oil if you’re in a pinch.)

1 tsp Honey

Mix all the ingredients in an airtight container and voila! This scrub will keep in your fridge for 2-3 weeks.

To use the scrub, massage a pea-sized amount onto your lips for about a minute. Let the ingredients work their magic for another minute before rinsing. The coffee will exfoliate while the oil and honey hydrate and soothe!

Soak it All In

Give your feet some lovin’ with an at-home foot soak. Epsom salt is a popular ingredient for DIY soaks and baths, but I don’t have any sitting around the house. I scrounged up a just-as-blissful option for when you just can’t make another run to the store.

You’ll need:

3 TBS Baking Soda

3 cups Warm Water

Half a Lemon (or lemon essential oil)

Mix ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl or basin and enjoy this fizzy foot soak! Aside from feeling nice, this will soften any dead skin and make your feet easier to exfoliate.

Hint: After your soak, use the leftover lip scrub and a washcloth to ditch dry and calloused skin!

Bask in a Mask

There are tons of DIY face mask recipes online, but not all are created equal. You’ll find mask recipes online that include lemon, cinnamon, and even raw egg. These ingredients can actually be harmful to your skin, so make sure to do your research when mixing masks at home.

I go for DIYs that are as simple and accessible as possible, which is why I love this two-part mask!

All you need:

1-2 Avocados

1/8 cup Honey

When it comes to measuring this one, eyeballing it is encouraged! Finish your avocado toast and use the other half to mask! Play with your food! Love yourself!

To combine, simply mash the avocado and then mix with honey. You can store this in the fridge and apply it later chilled, but I recommend using it within 24 hours. We’ve all experienced guac going brown in the fridge, and I’m not about putting that on my face.

This anti-aging mask hydrates as it softens. Honey’s antioxidant properties help reduce wrinkles and induce glow. Meanwhile, the avocado is queen of moisture.

I hope these DIY selfcare practices help you care for yourself this week. No matter how little time you have, carve out a bit for YOU. You deserve it, and it really can’t get simpler than this.

Happy selfcaring, ladies!
